At Droneit, we have had the privilege of contributing to the construction progress monitoring of the new headquarters of the Servicio de Emergencias Médicas (SEM), one of the most ambitious public infrastructure projects in the Barcelona metropolitan area. Our role was to provide a construction time-lapse service with camera-based visual monitoring, an innovative technology that documents the progress of the works in detail and efficiently, while also allowing live viewing 24/7.
Transforming and controlling the site with time-lapse
Building the new SEM headquarters involves multiple logistical, technical and coordination challenges, given its high complexity and the need for constant supervision. The project also had to be documented not only for administrative and control purposes, but also as a visual tool offering a clear and complete view of progress over time.
To meet these challenges, Droneit installed time-lapse cameras at strategic points around the site. With exceptional 4K image quality and the ability to capture images at regular intervals, these cameras allowed the project managers to follow the progress of the works in real time and to produce construction videos for social media.
Our team handled the installation, maintenance and monitoring of the cameras throughout the construction process. With construction time-lapse, the project managers had access to a platform with a wide range of features. It allowed them to edit images online, compare captures taken at different times, access the complete image bank from the start of the works and get a clear visual summary of the project's key milestones, from the foundations to the final finishing touches.
