One of our clients, the owner of a poultry farm raising chickens, made a significant investment to replace the roofs on two of the farm's four industrial buildings. The aim was to improve thermal efficiency and, with it, the quality of the indoor environment, which is essential for raising healthy chickens.
Inspection objectives
- Assess the thermal differences between the old fibre-cement (Uralita) roofs and the new ones.
- Check that the new roofs had been installed correctly, with no leakage points.
How the inspection was carried out
Equipment
A Mavic 3T drone with an RTK system to ensure accurate data collection.
Method
The inspection starts 30 minutes before sunrise, when temperature differences show up most clearly.
- The roofs and side walls of the buildings were inspected. RGB and IR drone orthophotos were generated in real time, along with a detailed point cloud.
Inspection results
- Several faulty installation points were found on the new roofs, such as missing screws and fixings.
- Multiple breaks were found in the old roofs, confirming how poorly they performed thermally.
Conclusion
The report allowed the client to ask the installers to come back and correct the problems found. We also recommended completing the replacement of all the roofs, given the positive impact seen in the two buildings already renovated.
