Tethered Zeppelin: an alternative to drone filming

What is a Zeppelin? A Zeppelin is a tethered, steerable helium balloon that rises to the ideal height for aerial filming and for getting the best shots.

WHEN SHOULD YOU USE A ZEPPELIN INSTEAD OF A DRONE FOR AERIAL FILMING?

Where the law does not allow drones to fly, Droneit offers a possible solution in the form of a Zeppelin. It can be preferable to drones for filming events with large crowds and in situations that call for stability, payload capacity and long flight times, or where regulations demand exceptional safety standards. Even so, it is important to weigh up your specific needs carefully and consider every available option before deciding. Below are some situations where a tethered Zeppelin is recommended.

NO-FLY ZONES FOR DRONES:

  • Over crowds of people (e.g. beaches, parks, etc.)
  • Urban areas.
  • Avoid flying near airports or areas with restricted airspace.

ZEPPELIN FEATURES

1. A stabilised camera is fitted to its underside, with both its movement and its settings controlled from the ground.
2. The Zeppelin is the only system that can be flown legally in a city without permits.
3. Droneit can achieve results where there is no noticeable difference between drone footage and footage from the Zeppelin system.

The Cursa dels Nassos is one of the Zeppelin shoots Droneit has carried out. Below is a summary of the day and the shots our Zeppelin captured.
